Home On The Range Part 3

After leaving May Campground in Montana we drove to Idaho and camped near the Lochsa Lodge
in Powell campground. We would stay here for days.
Why ???? The weather was awesome.......the camping was cheap for old people...we had
electricity...had the best campspot in the whole campground........there was lots of motorcycling
and bicycling to do.....the Lochsa Lodge had great food if we bicycled or hiked up to it.....
we were hiding from the holiday labor day crowds........there was a hot spring near to hike too...
and on and on.
And.........our friends Mark, Ellen and Sadie showed up to camp with us again.
We shared a campsot right along the Lochsa River. What's not to like. I think we stayed here for
about 8-9 days. Loved every minute of it.

We had a super big pull thru campsite we lucked into that was away from everybody.
I think $10 with electricity with my "geezer" pass.

Food at the Lochsa Lodge was over the top.
Debi had never had huckleberry pie or ice cream.
She sweet talked our waiter out of some frozen huckleberry's.
We always had ice cream in our camper fridge........so now we had huckleberry ice cream.

I found out about a hot spring in the woods you had to hike to.
It was 1 1/2 miles one way------I rode my 500 there, changed into my hiking gear and off I went.
You had to walk across this bridge first.

I actually found 2 springs------the water shot right out of the rocks.
I didn't get in this one.

This is the one I got in. It was a really nice and easy hike I really enjoyed.
There was talk of naked people but I never saw them.

Did see her though.

On my hike back I got a better shot at the first spring.
The hike down looked extremely dangerous as it was steep and had loose rocks.
Found out later there was an easier way.

Who took this picture you ask ???
The camera.
I was wearing my new KLIM riding jersey my buddy Dingweeds gave me when we
rode up in Idaho just a month before this trip. Yup I made 2 trips way up here this year.

My wife wanted a picture of this sign I had told her about.
Her dads name was Jerry Johnson.

My wife cracks me up.
We had been traveling so long without doing laundry things were getting nasty.
So what does she do ???? Does laundry the old fashion way.
But what really cracked me up...she says....."I had to do 2 loads"

Would your wife do this ??? I think not.........she's a keeper no doubt.
All this while I was out riding my motorsickle and hiking..........it's a rough life I have.

She fired up the ole chainsaw and cut and split all this.
I love this battery chain saw--cuts as good as the new Stihl gas saw I had........so I gave it away.

These guys showed up on Africa Twins.
Big, tall, handsome, tatooed muscular guys........or so my wife said !!!!
I couldn't suck my gut in enough.

Interesting place---I brought Debi back here later.

I'm being invaded.
Mark, his wife Ellen, his boss and his wife all show up.

We go riding and I tell them they can't take me where I haven't been.............I was wrong.
They were local...........should have known better.

Nope........ain't been here before.

Nope ain't been on this road before.

Nope aint't been to those places before.

As you know I luv bridges.........ain't been on this one before.

We run across forestry fire watch guy on a Yamaha TW200
He rides it here and then hikes 5 miles to the lookout tower---------volunteer work I think he said.

Look really close and read the sign.

Crap.......got me again......never been on this super awesome road.

Come on up-------I dare you.

Back at the camper we had more camping to do.
Sit around.....eat some more black licorice......make a fire.....fart......eat..play guitar...the usual stuff.

Early the next morning we were off again.
Same ole'..........same ole'

Helicopter pad

Lindell led us down this dirt road I'd never been on.
He turned around on it and came back.
Wasn't so lucky the 2nd time thru.

So this was the sticker on Lindell's bike............pretty fitting for the situation.
Lindell road a Suzuki DR650----------superb rider.

Debi's gonna half to do a third load ????
What a nice guy to ride with..........we had a hoot.
Once on a Montana 1000 ride he found me a much needed mirror for my bike
as I didn't bring one.

Dang-------as long as we were camped there I didn't get any pictures of the girls.
I feel bad.
Where was my mind ??? Oh.....yeah........

We finally left the Powell campground and I took Debi back to this place I found a few days ago.
We will miss Mark and Ellen--------but guess what......we run into them again in Utah
at a special place.

We head back into Montana and South thru Stephensville and camp at a so-so campground just because
we needed to empty our poopy tanks........get water and get back in touch.
Was our house still there we'd ask ?????

The next day we camp here........nice little remote campground..........nice and quiet.

And guess what............I go for a ride up the mountain.......never really did climb a mountain
on a dirt road before. The electric bike made that a piece of cake.

Beautiful day and back at camp things were cozy as I got a fire going for us.
We had no RV connections here...........but we didn't need any.
If we were careful and planned ahead we could go for a week or more dry camping.
Didi has her own chair which belonged to our previous dog.........RIP JoJo.
And Debi could use it in a pinch !!!

Still plenty of fire wood left.

And while Debi worked on her art I found another mountain to climb.

It was a dead end.

I flew down that mountain and scared myself a few times.

Remember those frozen huckleberry's Debi conned our waitress out of back at the Locsha Lodge ???
They were put to good use. Man is that good stuff.

Then we played gin into the wee hours of the night------at least 9PM.
And Debi "Skunked" me.
"Skunked" means---------I never won !!!!

And now to get Debi naked in a hot spring was the next adventure.
On the way we past by here.

Ha...........were the only ones here !!!

Adios Pantelones
Sharky Hot Springs
For a 3 dollar fee you can soak all day and all nite if you like.
We camped here. Free............I like free. Debi likes free even better.

I got pictures I can't show you-----------but........I was there !!!!

The next morning I had Debi a campfire before she even got out of bed.
And made a fresh pot of coffee.
She takes care of me and I take care of her.

Those didn't last long

From the hot spring we made it all the way to the town of West Yellowstone and plugged into
a good friends electrical power..........good thing he wasn't home ?????

My old buddy "Jonz" lives here when he ain't livin' in Kalifornistan.
We've known each other for ever---have rode Baja together and several Best of Montana rides.
I call him "Desert Dog"
He's another "Dog"
Thanks Jonz for the hospitality--------I owe you $1.40.
I didn't pee in your yard ...............honest.
His neighbor had a grizzly tear his garage door down just before we got there.
I didn't tell Debi till later.
